Walt Whitman (1819–1892). Leaves of Grass. 1900.
WHEN I heard the learn’d astronomer;
When the proofs, the figures, were ranged in columns before me;
When I was shown the charts and the diagrams, to add, divide, and measure them;
When I, sitting, heard the astronomer, where he lectured with much applause in the lecture-room,
How soon, unaccountable, I became tired and sick;
Till rising and gliding out, I wander’d off by myself,
In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,
Look’d up in perfect silence at the stars.
Science is built on math and solid principles. But it does not define anything completely. There is a story, a wonder, and much beauty to be seen. I like to see the proofs, the figures, and bar charts but work hard to allow customers and clients a chance to see wonder and delight.
Monetization and marketing are about revealing this love of which they see in a company. Customer enablement is about interacting with that love and fandom.
Increasing margins, opportunities, and revenue streams starts with the foundation of not only the figures of where you are but incorporating the creativity and beauty of where you are going.
